O'Flynn

Event Information

AUCKLAND! O’Flynn makes his long-awaited New Zealand debut this September, arriving with a new album that captures him at a defining moment. 🌴✴️

Auckland | Neck Of The Woods

Friday 18th September  | 10:00pm - 3:30am

Support from: Beccie B, Rydr

For over a decade, O’Flynn has quietly become one of the UK’s most respected producers and DJs, a singular voice in contemporary electronic music, grounded in dexterous production and an instinctive feel for the underground. His catalogue runs deep, shaped by curiosity, and marked by collaborations with artists such as Bonobo and Barry Can’t Swim.

Releasing music across Ninja Tune, Blip Discs, and his own imprint Hundred Flowers, O’Flynn’s work has earned support from tastemakers including Four Tet, Ben UFO, Gilles Peterson, and James Blake.

A pivotal moment came via Bonobo’s Fabric mix, which led to the collaborative track Otomo, a quietly monumental piece, and later saw O’Flynn join Bonobo on tour. Around the same time, he released Shimmer, a collaborative album with Frazer Ray via Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint, praised by DJ Mag as “a perfect cocktail of soaring emotions and bottom-heavy bass.”

O’Flynn completed a five-week sold-out residency at London’s Phonox, followed by a sold-out headline show at KOKO and a sold-out UK live tour in April, marking a clear step up in scale and demand.

In 2023, O’Flynn became a resident on Rinse FM, further cementing his role as both curator and craftsman. More recently, he delivered the inaugural release on Barry Can’t Swim’s Earth’s Only Paradise label, two tracks that stretched from disco-lit dancefloors to sharp-edged club pressure.

Now, O’Flynn returns with Kairos, his third full-length album, released July 17 via his own Panthus label. Named for the ancient Greek concept of the decisive moment, when conditions align, Kairos feels exactly that: a record where club energy meets patience, detail, and atmosphere. Music built for immersion.

This debut NZ tour marks the arrival of an artist fully in his stride, backed by an album rich in colour, tone, and intent.

GENA (Liv.e And Karriem Riggins)

Gena, one of the most dynamic and brilliant collaborative projects on the planet, has just announced an Auckland show for later this year, playing Neck of the Woods on Thursday 1 October.

The energetic duo that binds drummer and producer Karriem Riggins and singer-songwriter, rapper, and producer Liv.e, Gena recently dropped their debut album The Pleasure Is Yours, praised by Pitchfork for its cosmic experimentalism and amorphous funk.

Their collaborative debut as GENA (short for “God Energy, Naturally Amazing,” and loosely inspired by Gina from Martin), The Pleasure Is Yours (out 2/27/2026 via Lex Records), feels like a playful, soulful conversation between two kindred improvisers: Liv.e’s smoky, unpolished vocals glide through Riggins’ warm, percussive universe. Rooted in jazz, soul, and hip-hop as living language, the Dallas-born Liv.e brings a raw, experimental approach to R&B, while Detroit native Riggins—known for his work with Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Madlib, and a close kinship with the late J Dilla—extends his lifelong dialogue between jazz improvisation and beat science. Together they create a world that’s analog and ethereal, percussive and poetic, bridging eras without ever settling in one; The Pleasure Is Yours is the sound of Liv.e and Riggins bringing each other’s music to life and finding a new language together—one rooted in rhythm, vulnerability, and exuberance.

Church Presents Chapter Five

CHURCH presents CHAPTER FIVE.
And so we gather once more.

On August 8, we celebrate five years of CHURCH.

To mark this milestone, we continue ART COLLABS, an ongoing series of collaborations with Aotearoa artists, with a new work by ringatoi Māori Māia Keane (Te Tairāwhiti).

In Māia's words, the work plays on the idea of Church as a place of gathering, where connection and freedom take centre stage. Framed by a triangular shelter, the piece leans into sanctuary, with whaiaipo, to pursue love beneath the cover of night, sitting at its heart.

What began as a party has become something much greater than ourselves. Through countless dancefloors, friendships and collaborations, CHURCH has grown into a community held together by the people who continue to show up.

Ngā mihi nui to Māia for this collaboration. It was a pleasure working together. Please take a moment to follow the artist and support her work.

And to the CHURCH gatherers who have walked with us these past five years, thank you for helping shape what this community has become.

More than ever, this feels like a time to rejoice. To celebrate, and to give thanks for all that has been, and all that is yet to come.

HALFQUEEN presents THE NIGHTMAYOR MARATHON SET

Kia ora my gorgeous constiuents,

I've been venturing into the dark of Night Life for the majority of my life now. I've had the immense privilege and joy of DJing all over the world, in so many clubs, festivals, raves, house parties, galleries etc - you name it - for the past 8 years.. and while my career often takes me elsewhere, my focus has always been creating nightlife experiences at home.

Like most of us, I look around in the evening these days and notice that there is a gaping hole, or perhaps a fleeting feeling I long for, or perhaps it's for a space we're craving... I hear consistently, from you all, that there is a need for something new to fill this void of venues closing, festivals ending, this endless neocapitalist loop train we're all on that's forcing our young creative fledglings to seek greener pastures overseas -- and I'm simply over it!!!!!!!

AND SO, here I am on this mission, to finally (unofficially) become the Night Mayor that Tāmaki Makaurau deserves for real.

Part of upholding this role is my participation in a 3 week course at the institution that is Tresor in Berlin, where I will attend the "how to run a club" course. I'm one of 8 from around the world that have been selected to attend this school, and it is with the heartiest honour that I'm representing AUCKLAND.

so I figured it's high time to wheel it up and run it back: HALFQUEEN presents the NIGHTMAYOR Marathon set - this Friday evening at our beloved Neck of the Woods.

This marathon set is a humble offering, in exchange for a couple of your hard earned bucks. This pūtea will fund my travel expenses, so I might learn some good stuff and bring it home, in the hopes of one day operating the Club we've all dreamt about in the heart of the city.

I lean on you all to reflect me, give me purpose and meaning, and show up, and so, I invite you, once again, to spend a couple of hours with me on Friday, as I take you thru the sonic treasures that have soundtracked my career + life, so we might shake our asses and reimagine how we might want our worlds to feel, in communion.

TLDR; come shake your ass for me to get to Berlin to learn some things!

E TŪ Musicians' Union

You know that our music scene can’t afford another round of this government. Together, we can and will change the government to one that supports musicians and the music sector.

Whether you’re a musician, venue manager, door person, label owner, or angel in the audience, you have a part to play.

No doubt many of you will already be on the kaupapa. But by coming together in a movement, we have a lot more power. Power not just to fight for what we lost or protect what we have, but to imagine and create something better.

Join us at Neck of the Woods for the campaign launch of CHANGE THE TUNE. You’ll hear about the strategy and leave with a clear picture of what actions you can take to get people enroled and turning out.

Doors open from 6pm with DJ playing until 7pm when we kick into the kōrero. We’ll then have a few live acts (TBA) to round off the night. See you there!

This campaign launch is supported by Action Station, who are organising a broad based mega-movement for voter enrolment and turn out under the banner of Together for the Vote.

Nau mai, haere mai ki tō tātou hui tuarua!

We’re holding our second community hui at the club this Sunday and we want you to come!

Our first community hui was a great coming together of a wide range of people to discuss and reimagine the future of Neck of the Woods.

While we’re in this rebuilding stage, it’s really important to us that we keep communication open with the people that have supported us. We want to hear more of your ideas, hopes and dreams for a more sustainable music scene. And we want to share what we’ve been researching and working on since the last hui.

Vera Ellen NZ Tour

Aotearoa Music Award-winning and Taite Award-winning artist Vera Ellen releases her new album Heaven Knows What Time. on May 1 via Flying Nun Records. Alongside the album release, Vera Ellen returns to Aotearoa in July for a six-date national tour in celebration of Heaven Knows What Time.

The title Heaven Knows What Time. arrived while Vera was lying on the top bunk of a house truck in Buenos Aires, nearly two years after writing the record and almost a year after completing the mix. After multiple working titles, it surfaced with clarity and immediacy - less a decision than a moment of recognition. It reflects the album’s central tension: frustration and surrender to forces outside of control. As Vera describes it, creativity cannot be demanded - it can be nurtured, but ultimately arrives in its own time, like a baby.

The album was written during a two-week songwriting residency in Greytown, awarded through the NZ Pacific Studio Artist Residency Programme. The residency provided space and solitude away from touring and performance, culminating in a performance at Studio 73 for fellow residents and members of the local community.

In her residency application, Vera wrote: After the heaviness of Ideal Home Noise, I feel it is pressing that I now create an uplifting record that has a guiding message of hope, but from a matured perspective. While that intention is present, Heaven Knows What Time. resists neat resolution, moving through themes of love, joy, self-assurance, humour, moodiness, and heartbreak - positioning Vera as an observer of both inner and outer worlds.

Alongside extensive touring in Aotearoa — including the 2025 Laneway Festival — Vera has performed internationally with her band, including a 14-date tour of China, a sold-out run in Australia supporting Crowded House, appearances at New Colossus Festival and SXSW (Austin and Sydney), and a full UK/EU support tour with Yumi Zouma. She is set to support Aldous Harding on her full UK/EU tour and perform at The Great Escape in Brighton. The Guardian described her performance as: Arising New Zealand empress Vera Ellen and band were a revelation, a shimmering reminder that pop'n'roll can still nudge one's soul.
